Case Study: Springer Nature
I spent nine months working for Springer Nature via 101 Ways. The business's statement of work was to develop its editorial application to include ways of handling manuscript submissions from authors into 'Collections'.
Springer Nature is a leading academic and educational publisher, formed in May 2015 by the merger of two major publishers, Springer Science+Business Media and the Nature Publishing Group. The company has a global reach and operates in over 50 countries, with more than 10,000 employees worldwide.
Springer Nature publishes a wide range of academic journals, books, and digital products in fields such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medicine, and social sciences. The company's content is used by researchers, academics, students, and professionals around the world.
A great project to work on, my role in the team there was UX consultant.
It took us a while to map their existing editorial submission flows and grasp their user archetypes. We had the responsibility of setting up new user roles and permissions.
Various tools and systems at Springer Nature were a by-product of previous mergers, so navigating the brands and their applications was lengthy.
The goal for the business was to attract more submissions from prospective authors to collections as a vehicle, as this generates income through sponsorship.
As a team, we accomplished the statement of work in 6 months and further supported the business with additional requirements.
